MVH worked McElhanney Consultants to develop affordable housing options for a park site in the Town of Canmore, Alberta. The community engagement methods and ensuing urban design workshops were a key ingredient to the success of the process. The contentious issues were discussed openly with the need for affordable housing and park improvement or park retention at the centre of the debate. A number of options were developed with the community and then a greater community survey further invited feedback for final review by Town Council. The affordable housing is now built along with the improvements to the Park. A success story that started in controversy.
